Just Say Yes to Nylon Carpet!

    Nylon 6,6 Carpet

Sticking with the nylon carpet yarn theme let's look at some solution dyed nylon 6,6 products from Dixie Home. If you want the best carpet yarn available (In my humble opinion) then look no further than Dixie Home's Stainmaster solution dyed nylon 6,6 products. I've blogged before about the best carpet yarn and solution dyed nylon won the day. Now a new king of the carpet yarns has emerged! Not only is Dixie Home's nylon carpet solution dyed but it's also nylon 6,6. Why is this better you ask? Well, let me explain. Nylon 6,6 is a harder yarn than normal nylon yarn. It's used in parachutes, car air bags, military applications, nylon ropes etc. Basically wherever the most demanding performance is required. Just think how well this yarn would perform in your living spaces. Harder, better performing carpet yarn. (What if those parachutes didn't open or perform correctly...yikes). Plus it holds a heatset better than normal nylon thereby increasing the texture performance. And compared to polyester, well......there is no comparison. Yes, that's right, I said it. Maybe the other carpet mills will continue to sell nylon carpet yarn because it performs better and not try to sell cheaper, lower performing polyester yarn! But enough on that rant (I guess).
    Nuff said for now.....

  • Where Has All of the Nylon Carpet Gone?

Where Has All of the Nylon Carpet Gone?

New Nylon Carpet InstallationWell, well, well. It looks like a lot of the carpet mills are starting to discontinue nylon carpet. The average person would say "so what". But that's because they have no idea why nylon carpet is the best. The carpet mills have decided in their infinite wisdom to either discontinue nylon carpet or severely restrict nylon products. Why you ask! Because they cost more basically. They can sell polyester carpet for much less thereby creating the illusion of better value. Now, I will freely admit that polyester carpet has come a long way since the 1960's but the polyester yarn is inherently much less resilient. It has a lower melt level so when the mills apply the heat set (which holds in the twist in the yarn) they must do it at a lower heat temperature. This causes the yarn to set it's twist at a lower retention level. What does this mean to the average consumer? It means that the carpet yarn will untwist easier than nylon yarn which is twist set at a much higher temperature. The result is a carpet yarn that will unwind and "look" worn much sooner than nylon. Nylon is legendary for it's wear qualities and it's resiliency. Both of these attributes should be highly desirable but the mills go where the money is so polyester carpet is now the rage.......not!
    Nuff said eh?

  • Why Choose Nylon Yarn for your New Carpet

    Why Choose Nylon Carpet Yarn!

Why Choose Nylon Yarn for your New CarpetWhy nylon yarn? I've been going on a rant lately because the carpet mills are going away from nylon carpet yarn. So why nylon carpet? Well because it's the best carpet yarn out there. The carpet mills would like you to believe that polyester yarn is just great but that's just not the case. Polyester carpet has a lower melt level so the heat set is not nearly as good as nylon carpet. Basically, polyester carpet, while very stain resistant, will mat down and unwind faster than nylon carpet. So the performance is subpar as compared to nylon carpet.
I've been revamping my carpet lineup ever since the carpet mills have decided to go away from nylon carpet. Don't settle for second best! Choose nylon carpet......nuff said, eh?

Wood Flooring Testimonial

Jeff Dean of Dover Floor Covering is a great professional floor person and has great installers too! We had him install beautiful Chelsea plank flooring in American Cherry 3", 4" and 5" wide random width patterns in our home on Vero Drive in Highland and he did our upstairs bedrooms and loft in carpeting too. In our condo in Fenton we have Mohawk's Eucalyptus in 5" wide planks with green natural renewable materials. We love this floor! Wears well and is a hand scraped style and looks like Cherry or Mahogany! Jeff is courteous and on time and does his best to get in and done with quality and savings for you! I have referred him to many clients as I am a realtor in the White Lake, Milford and Highland areas.

Pattterned Carpet Flooring Testimonial

Dear Jeff, just wanted to thank you again for the wonderful job on our wood flooring. Jeremy and the crew were exceptional. If your are in the area sometime would love for you to see the finished job (after all the moldings and casings were painted). We hope to replace our kitchen flooring next year, if we do, we will definitely call you. Thank you again.
